Beatles miniseries planned for next year

Beatles NBC Hirst

The North American chain NBC would be planning a new eight-part miniseries about the Beatles to premiere in 2015, according to the US press in recent days. At the moment it was only anticipated that the project is in its early stages of development and that it will be in charge of Michael Hirst as executive producer and screenwriter, creator of the series The Tudors and Vikings, and that it will be produced by Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg , who previously worked with Hirst on other television productions.

NBC will carry out this new production on the four of Liverpool, in what would be a really ambitious project considering the prohibitive cost that the broadcasting rights maintain for the songs of the Beatles, which has inhibited such productions for decades. A recent example of this has been that of the well-known series 'Mad Men', which had to pay a quarter million dollars in copyright for reproducing in one chapter the song 'Tomorrow never Knows', included in the album 'Revolver' by 1966.

The news of the new miniseries joins the next launch of the mythical band on the big screen, with the re-release of 'A Hard Day's Night', this summer, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of its original premiere at the Pavilion Theater in London, which marked the debut of the four from Liverpool in cinematography.
