Impressive trailer of the winner in Sundance 'the birth of a Nation'

The birth of nation

The birth of a Nation is a film that has taken Sundance by storm. Nate Parker's play was voted Best of the Festival and Fox Searchlight paid a whopping $ 17,5 million for it. It is a brave story and I leave the trailer here.

Nat Turner is a slave boy who is taught to read so that he can study the Bible and thus be the preacher to his fellow slaves. When Turner's teacher takes him around the country on a preaching tour, he takes the opportunity to profit from his preaching, Turner begins to see the scope of slavery and decides to become a different leader.

The film will be released in the United States on October 7. In its cast it has Jackie Earle Haley, Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) ('The Lone Ranger'), Gabrielle Union, Penelope Ann Miller, Mark Boone Jr. and Aja Naomi King.

Curiously, the title is the same as that of another film from the beginning of the last century, well known for its racist content. Nate Parker himself has stated on more than one occasion that this corresponds to an ironic criticism that he has made in addition to being a title that fits the design of the story. It has been commented that it could be the new "12 years of slavery."
