In Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, one of the autochthonous genres, along with folklore, is tango. In frank decline, eTango has lost the popularity it enjoyed for a long time, but there is still a group of practitioners of this music who keep the flame burning. That is why, and because of the firm decision to take care of the cultural heritage of the city, the entity TangoVía has proposed to create the first Digital Archive of Tango.
The TangoVía Buenos Aires association, made up of artists, researchers, producers and cultural centers presented this week the project that seeks to rescue and preserve sound, graphic and audiovisual material, digitally adapting the largest number of documents related to tango, in addition to including «unique and unrepeatable collections », they explained to the press.
The idea is that all compiled material is available from the internet, so that any interested user can review the tango atlas. The organizers assured that very soon the result will be seen on the net.
Entrepreneurship is an excellent initiative since in Argentina there are more than 100 recordings made in the first half of the XNUMXth century that today are not available anywhere.
