Elle Fanning, after starring in the film 'Maleficent' ('Maleficent'), brings to life a transgender character in the difficult process of going from being a woman to being a man, which already smells like awards, or at least nominations in this upcoming awards season.
The young interpreter who became known as a child with films such as 'Babel', 'Somwhere' or 'Super 8' will be accompanied in the cast by two stars of the stature of the Oscar nominee Naomi Watts and the winner of the statuette Susan Sarandon.
Naomi Watts plays the main character's mother, who has to deal with the big change and raise his only daughter as a son, Ramona as Ray, while Susan Sarandon is the lesbian granny, who does not understand why her granddaughter cannot settle for being a lesbian like her and opts for a path of sex.
The film is directed by Gaby Dellal, director of films such as 'On a Clear Day' or 'Angels Crest' and will hit US screens on September 18 with the hope of participating in the new Oscar race.
