He was one of the most important Spanish filmmakers of all time. Surrealist, iconoclast, atheist, Aragonese above all, genius and figure, even a grave that was given to him two and a half decades ago.
The author of the Andalusian dog died today 25 years ago, and that is why several tributes are celebrated this year: in the Berlinale several of his films were screened: "The Golden Age" (1930) "The forgotten" (1949) "Viridiana" (1961) "The exterminating angel" (1962) "Belle de jour" (1966) "The discreet charm of the bourgeoisie" (1973) and his latest work "That dark object of desire" (1977)
The Complutense University will remember this great filmmaker in its summer courses. Meanwhile, we can once again delight ourselves with that wonderful scene from "An Andalusian Dog", a true icon of world cinema.
