final poster

Last week the tenth edition of the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre, the international horror film festival, fantastic and bizarre, Unavoidable appointment and a must for lovers of this type of cinema.

As usual, this year they could see productions from almost every continents, with titles that have hardly had their commercial premiere in movie theaters. In this way they could enjoy, on the big screen, the funniest massacres perpetrated by zombies, vampires, cereal killers, psychotics and all kinds of deranged minds.

Among the films in competition stood out Croppedby the Argentine Sebastián De Caro; the brutal Massacre Tonight; and the original Colin, filmed from the point of view of a zombie, by Briton Marc Price. Hyperviolent also competed Samurai princess; american comedy Blood on the highway and the first zombie film made in Serbia: Zone of the dead.

There were sections dedicated to Ibero-American works; another destined to review the latest cinematographic novelties, such as the suffocating Terror in Antarctica or the dark and oppressive Italian production Shadow, among other. A retrospective was scheduled with horror film classics such as Bad Taste and Horror Museum; And as if that weren't enough, there was a section for adaptations inspired by Lovecraft's work.

While the sample shorts (with competition included) has been taking place since its first editions, this year the event had its explosion due to the enormous number of short films received. This was seen in the space that the organizers gave to the short stories, with almost a score of scheduled functions.

On the other hand, and by way of celebration for the past decade, the organization promoted the filming of Blood Red Documentary, a journey through all these years of cinephile celebration, where different personalities of genre cinema give their testimony and reflect on the fest.

In the next few days we will be uploading the reviews of the movies seen, and to the extent that we get them, we will also note the ones that we missed and are wanting to see.

Bonus Track: The poster you see above was created by scuzzo, an Argentine graphic artist closely linked to the comic strip. I leave his blog in case someone wants to shop. Really worth it. Click here..
