On June 5, the record company EMI will launch a special edition that celebrates the 40 anniversary of the publication of 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars', the album of David Bowie that marked the music of an era and that has decisively influenced subsequent generations.

Originally edited by RCA Victor on June 6, 1972, Ziggy Stardust It was Bowie's fifth album and was co-produced by the artist himself and Ken Scott. It was composed while Bowie was working on the 1971 album 'Hunky Dory' and was recorded at Trident Studios (London) between November 8 of that year and February 4, 1972, with Mick Ronson (guitar, piano, backing vocals, arrangements strings), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mick Woodmansey (drums), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) and Dana Gillespie to the backing vocals of 'It Ain't Easy'.
