The American band Wilco has decided to celebrate its twentieth anniversary of history with a double edition, on the one hand a compilation of greatest hits under the name What's Your 20? and secondly, a special collection of previously unreleased rarities entitled Alpha Mike Foxtrot. Both productions will be released on November 17, through the record label Nonesuch Records.
What's Your 20 ?: Essential Tracks, reviews Wilco's entire career by compiling the "essential songs" from the band's eight studio albums and Mermaid Avenue, his collaboration with Billy Bragg. The record material will include 38 tracks ordered chronologically from "I Must Be High" from the AM album (1995) to "Whole Love" and "Born Alone" from The Whole Love (2011), his last studio work to date.
Moreover, Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994-2014, is presented as a compilation of rarities with live tracks, demos, songs that American musicians recorded and never released, as well as collaborations with names like Feist, Andrew Bird and Fleet Foxes. This edition includes a 64-page book with photos, song notes, and personal memories of the band members. Both collections have been produced by Cheryl Pawelski, who also produced similar releases by Big Star, The Band, and Townes Van Zandt.
