The leader of the Nine Inch Nails has criticized his former protégé, the Antichrist superstar, saying that "He is a very malicious person who does not mind stepping on others to get what he wants" and that "does not respect any standard of decency”. He also pointed out that currently “drugs and alcohol dominate his life, turning him into a silly clown".
reznor pointed out that the tension between him and Marilyn Manson began in 1994, during the tour of the NIN call The Downward Spiral:
"On that tour we did everything we could to make our audience theirs ... in those days, many of those who frequented my circle were alcoholics, but Manson was not ... his drive to take care of himself and achieve success was very great".
"He used to be the smartest guy in the whole room and as a fan of his talent, I hope he will be again sometime."He added.
Response Manson, via his MySpace, Do not be late: "Will this all end with my fist to your nose or the back of your head? ... I'll teach you a lesson ...".
