Just days ago the filming of «Map of the sounds of Tokyo«, The last film of Isabel Coixet, shot both in Japan, Toio more particularly, and finished in Barcelona.
With an outstanding cast, in which they appear as protagonists Sergi López (a very satisfied Sergi López) and Rinko Waikuchi, the one already nominated for an Oscar for her participation in "Babel."
Coixet has cataloged this as "the most dramatic of his films." In it, Kikuchi is the protagonist, she plays Ryu who works in a fish market, looking fragile and lonely. Anecdotally, she begins to receive assignments as a hit man. López plays David, a Spaniard who owns a wine business in Tokyo whose partner has committed suicide, and who is blamed by her father, Mr. Nagara, for the death.
Through the mouths of both actors, as well as the director and screenwriter, it has been known that in the film, although there are no "bed" scenes, there is a lot of innuendo and sex in the script, which is what reveals the similarities between the characters of López and Kikuchi, among so much difference.
The director, Coixet, has also revealed some tidbits. She is admitted to be a fan of Haruki Murakami's novels, with whom she has been able to meet and go to buy records, since the writer was shown to be an admirer of his films. The point is that Coixet's next work will be the adaptation of "Tokyo Blues", a Murakami book, where Kikuchi will also appear on stage.
The premiere is expected, I suppose, by the end of this year, since there is still all the post production to be finalized. I am sure, also, that it will not be a film that disappoints.
