Thom Yorke (Radiohead) surpasses one million downloads of his new album

Thom York Tomorrow pits

The surprise release of the new solo album by Thom Yorke (Radiohead) seems to be paying off successfully. Less than a week after its release (six days) through the exchange network (P2P) BitTorrent, the album 'Tomorrow Modern's Boxes' exceeded one million legal downloads. A few days ago Yorke surprised his fans by announcing the launch of the new album and informing about the news that it would be distributed through a new BitTorrent payment service where users will have the option to pay, in order to access some files or the full album for less than 5 euros.

Yorke resorted to this novel marketing system through BitTorrent in an experimental way in order for the artist to have more direct and effective control over his work and its sale through the internet. Previously with his band, Radiohead, Yorke had already tried this form of commercialization with the album 'In Rainbows' (2007), which was sold for the value that each buyer wanted to pay.

'Tomorrow´s Modern Boxes', produced by Nigel Godrich, is his first solo album since 2006 and contains eight previously unreleased tracks. Along with the internet launch, a vinyl version of the album was also released, accompanied by a digital copy, for a price of 39 euros.
