Third edition of the 4 + 1 Festival

4 + 1 film festival

They say that in this life you have to renew or die. And so it has been applied this year by the 4 + 1 film festival, betting simultaneously on movie theaters and the option streaming. This will be the third edition of this festival, organized by Fundación Mapfre, which will have the support of the Spanish platform The film, online headquarters of 4 + 1, which will offer the event over the Internet.

The festival, which will have us hooked on the big (or small) screen, gets underway today, and until November 30 we can enjoy a large number of titles. Below we briefly review the official section of the festival.

  • 4:44 Last day on Earth.  This film, starring Willem Dafoe, presents us with the last days on earth of a civilization that knows exactly when the apocalypse is going to arrive. A deep and intense film that some of us saw last year at the Syfy Show.
  • Life Without Principle. Produced in Hong Kong, it is an economic thriller as a cross story game where cheap gangsters try to take advantage of the economic crisis that surrounds us. A fierce metaphor for the world we are living in.
  • Bellflower. One of those films that seek another point of view. In this case the reverse of love, using fragility as a flag and its iconography as its emotional scaffolding. From the hand of Evan Glodell, it is the desperate chronicle of a crush, which tries to assert the sadness of love, of life.

  • Terry. A recording that seeks to create in the viewer a feeling of brotherhood and personal discovery about what it means to look for oneself within the fact of feeling different, in which the presence of actor John C. Reilly stands out.
  • Crazy horse. A world in which everything happens quickly, a film in which the author gives us a study on contemporary life, on the search for the extraordinary. And he does it by entering the Crazy Horse club for ten weeks, a temple of the sophistication of sensuality and sex.
  • The delay. This Uruguayan film delves into a complex issue such as abandonment and family hardship, through the story of a young man who abandons his father in a park because he is unable to support him financially.
  • Land Of Oblivion. Centered in 1986, specifically in Chernobyl, in the apocalypse that led to the catastrophe of a country that was never the same again. A brave work, capable of capturing the exact moment in which the world collapsed, the before and after a tragedy.
  • The Folie Almayer. Inspired by a homonymous story by Joseph Conrad, it tells us about the somewhat complicated relationship between a daughter and her parents in the Malay jungle. The story raises the complexity of what some call patriotism: What really makes us belong to a place, geography or our origin?

  • Nana. A children's story that, like everyone else, is cruel and magical at the same time. The cabin, the forest, the wolf etc. Nana is a four-year-old girl who lives in a rural environment and this film tries to convey another point of view of childhood. The freedom of spirit and conception that feeds Nana is the common thread of this narrative.
  • Photographic Memory. Memories and images can have a healing purpose, and this is what we can find on this tape. A way of arriving and making us remember or believe that in the end the subjectivity of each moment is the only thing we share.
  • The Ballad Of Genesis And Lady Jaye. An artistic look that tries to approach the subject of love in a sensitive and humorous way. In this film, an avant-garde artist decides to have surgery to transform himself into the person he loves. A surprising, exciting and magical documentary.
  • Summer. The time when everything seems possible, when dreams seem more than ever within reach. A story that recalls Bradbury, and Twain, and confirms that if the Impressionists lived today, they would change their working formula.
  • Les Eclats (ma gueule, ma révolte, mon nom). Or what is the same, "my face, my revolt, my name", or the content of violence of faces saved from the void. It portrays, with a marked political tinge, the lives of illegal immigrants who wait in Calais for their opportunity to cross the strait to England. A convulsive film that does not leave you indifferent.
