The last week of October, Island Records released the soundtrack to the documentary 'Amy', an acclaimed biopic about the singer's life. Amy Winehouse Directed by British filmmaker Asif Kapadia ('Senna') which was released in mid-July in Spain and last October in Latin America. The British singer's second posthumous album, includes live versions of her songs, as well as demos and previously unreleased rarities from her repertoire.
The album was released on October 30. Songs featured in Kapadia's documentary include live versions of songs performed by the singer at London's Union Chapel, on the Jools Holland TV show, the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Mercury Awards. as well as his well-known duet with Tony Bennett, as well as demos and original songs by the Brazilian composer Antonio Pinto, creator of the soundtrack of 'Amy', in addition to others previously such as 'Central do Brasil' (1998), 'Cidade de Deus' (2002) and 'Senna' (2010) among others.
'Amy' (2015) represents Winehouse's second posthumous album after 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' of 2011, and earlier this year it was speculated that this would be the last to be released according to Universal Music UK President and CEO David Joseph, who revealed that for moral reasons existing Winehouse demos had been destroyed to ensure they were not misuse more material from the late singer.
