The recovery of the Benicássim International Festival

The recovery of the Benicássim International Festival

The Benicássim International Festival has shown this year that its continuity is guaranteed,  after some very complicated years at the beginning of the decade and the bankruptcy of its promoter, Maraworl.

The FIB has returned with a great critical and convocation success. This 2016 edition closes with the attendance of 161.000 spectators, 46.000 of them on the day of yesterday Saturday, in which tickets were sold out thanks to the pull of Muse, the main headliner.

The general director of the event, Melvin Benn, opted for the festival, by a diversified audience and by attracting new commercial sponsors. This formula seems to be giving the expected result and solving some financial problems that come from the previous bets.

In the words of Melvin himself, 2016 has been a great year for the FIB, thanks to new scenarios, the incorporation of business partners who had not participated until now, etc. Shortening the distance between stages has facilitated the flow between performances, and the expansion of the space at J&B South Beach and the FIB Club de Radio 3 have recovered a marquee, highly demanded by national attendees.

Regarding the data,  The organization has estimated the attendance on Thursday in the welcome day at 35.000 spectators, 40.000 on Friday and the aforementioned 46.000 on Saturday with the tickets sold out. For today's day, Sunday, 40.000 spectators are expected. The presence of the British and Irish public continues to be the largest, with 48%, but the presence of the Spanish public is consolidated with 46%. The remaining 6% add multiple nationalities, mainly European.

The general director has affirmed the international nature of the festival, and a joint offer for the enjoyment of all audiences. The FIB has one of the most important posters in Europe. This year's edition closes this Sunday with the expected performance of the Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar and with the prominent presence of The Maccabees, Catfish an the Bottlemen, The 1975 and above all, Massive Attack.
