Currently in our country there are about 38.700 jobs directly related to the film sector, figures that could grow by just over 19.000 jobs if the fight against the downloading of protected content were done in a better way, as stated in the III Permanent Seminar Ortega y Gasset on the Audiovisual Industry in Spain.

This study reflects that around 43% of Internet users pirate movies and adds that this number of acts of piracy reaches the figure of 536 million with an equivalent of 3.338 million euros.

José María Otero, director of the seminar, has stated that the Sinde-Wert Law it is too ambiguous, as well as a step in the right direction. For this reason, it has opted for clear rules together with an outreach and educational effort, especially in relation to the new generations.

Regarding the situation that the sector is going through in Spain, from the seminar it is recalled that the number of moviegoers in our country during the past year 2012 was approximately 15,4 million, which shows a increase with respect to previous years, but without recovering the levels that were achieved in 2005, when it reached 17,7 million viewers.
