The movie phrases of the history of cinema

cinema phrases

"Bond… James Bond ”. There are movie phrases that have become trademarks. Dialogues that have been fixed in the retina and in the memory of the spectators for generations.

Many times, the power of an art with such diffusion as is the cinema (mainly the one made in Hollywood), has achieved that words that at the time expressed real characters, of flesh and blood, ended up being attributed to fictional beings.

There are cases where a movie is remembered only by one sentence. There are others in which nobody remembers the film where he heard it (because it was really bad).

Here is a selection of some Movie lines

"After all, tomorrow will be another day"

"Gone With the Wind”By Víctor Fleming (1939). One of the most famous films in the history of cinema. Based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Michell (who also wrote the screenplay) and winner of 10 Oscars. A whole classic.

"All men die, but not all really live"

"Valient hearte"By Mel Gibson" (1995). Another well-known Oscar showing, including Best Picture and Best Direction. Based on the life of William Wallace, a Scottish hero.

"You always get somewhere if you walk long enough"

"Alice in Wonderland". This phrase appears in the original text of Lewis Caroll published in 1865. It is within one of the several dialogues that the protagonist has with the Smiling Cat. The phrase was topical again, after the impressive box office success of the live-action version directed by Tim Burton and released in 2010.

"I'd rather die now than prolong my death if I don't have your love"

"Romeo AND Juliet”. Another phrase that appears in the original text, belonging to the best known of the works of the English playwright William Shakespeare. Every so often a new film adaptation of this classic is released; the most original of all is the one directed by Baz Luhrmann from 1996, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Clarine Danes.

"I'm king of the world"

“Titanic” by James Cameron (1997). Who does not remember the scene of DiCaprio screaming from the bow of the shocking ship?

"There are three ways of doing things: the right one, the wrong one and mine"

"Casino" by Martin Scorsese (1995). One of the best films of the famous New York director. When Robert De Niro, playing the Jewish-American mobster Sam “Ace” Rothstein, spoke these words, more than one was impressed in his armchair.

"One can only see good with the heart, what is essential is invisible to the eyes"

"Forrest Gump" by Robert Zemeckis (1994). Based on the homonymous novel written by Wiston Groom, this film starring Tom Hanks is a classic of modern cinema.

"Without you, today's emotions will be the dead wrappings of yesterday's"

"Amelié" by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (2001). This romantic comedy is one of the most important films in French cinema of the last 20 years. "She's going to change your life" was the commercial logo used by its distributors to market its premiere. It can be said that all those who at the time went to movie theaters to enjoy the follies of Amelié Poulain, had to reflect on their vision of the world.

"Life is nothing more than an endless rehearsal, of a work that will never be released"

Another of the movie phrases of "Amelié."

"Just remember that I was as good as anyone, and better than most."

"Gattaca" by Andrew Niccol (1997). When this tape was released it did not generate much interest in the public. However, over time it ended up becoming a cult movie. In it we witness a peculiar vision of the future of humanity, not too exciting.

"What is the point of confession, if I am not sorry?"

Godfather

"The Godfather III" by Francis Ford Coppola (1990). The film that completed the Michael Corleone trilogy is the least praised of all, despite the success at the box office and several Oscar nominations. However, this is another of the great movie phrases, pronounced by Al Pacino, which will remain for posterity.

"There are no unanswered questions, only poorly formulated questions"

"Matrix" by the Wachowski Sisters (1999). Blockbuster, cult movie, modern classic. This trilogy perfectly fits most of the adjectives that give "cache" to good cinematographic works. In addition, around this fictional universe a whole current of thought has been generated about reality and the role of man in modernity.

"Happy ends are endless stories"

"Mr and Mrs smith" by Doug Liman (2005). After the noisy divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (who paradoxically fell in love while filming this "action comedy"), it seems that this phrase was a premonition.

Smith

"We all go crazy sometime"

"Psychosis" by Alfred Hitchcock (1961). One of the most iconic and influential suspense and intrigue films of all time. A phrase to analyze.

"You've been in my life for so long that I don't remember anything else"

"Alien 3" by David Fintcher (1992). The directorial debut, who would rise to fame with “Seven,” was such a mediocre film. This example of great movie lines looks like something out of a very romantic movie, rather than this horror movie.

“Now I can tell you that I made the right decision, however, there is not a day that goes by without me regretting not having made a different option."

"Seven" by David Fintcher (1995). For many, this is one of the best films of the 90s and the one responsible for elevating Brad Pitt to stardom.

"I do not remember to forget you"

"Memento" by Christopher Nolan (2000). One of the most disturbing films of recent years. The phrase is a true delight.

"Our names do not matter, we are known by our actions"

"Batman" by Christopher Nolan (2005). The first of the three films that the British director shot about the lone knight of the Gothic city, he left these words worthy of an electoral campaign.

There are many movie phrases that can be left out of this list. And the thing is that, in every movie, no matter how bad it is, there is usually a dialogue, some movie phrases, an idea, that can make us remember the film just for that.
