The Oscars had the worst television rating in history

To the Yankees Oscar 2008 it seems they cared little: this awards ceremony had the smallest television audience in the United States in history, Variety reported.

They saw the gala only 32 million of Americans, which is 25 percent less compared to 40 million last year.

The worst rating so far had been that of 2003, with an average of 33 million, when "Chicago" won the Oscar for Best Picture. And the most watched -for 55 million- was in 1998, when «Titanic»Won 11 awards.

It is believed that the key to this year happened because the nominated films were not big box office successes nor were there dazzling names after the triples.
