How could it be otherwise, the South Koreans have chosen the recent winner of the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival «Pietà»To represent your country in the category of Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.
South Korea will seek to win the Oscar through the most influential director in the country and one of the best filmmakers in the world, Kim ki-duk.
Kim Ki-duk has such important accolades as the Silver Bear Berlinale Award for Best Director for "Samaritan Girl" or the Silver lion the best director and the León de Oro for best film, for "Hierro 3" and "Pietà" respectively, both at the Venice Film Festival.
But the director, despite his great quality, still resists the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Kim Ki-duk already represented his country in 2004, the year in which this award was won by the Spanish "Sea Inside", with "Spring, summer, autumn, winter ... and spring" but he did not even get the nomination.
This year he returns to participate with a great film that is endorsed by the prize won in Venice, but it seems that in this edition it will be difficult again since it has as rivals tapes such as «Amour»By Michael Haneke, Palme d'Or at Cannes, or«Just the wind»By Benedek Fliegauf, Grand Jury Prize in Berlin.
