The remarkable and essential TV program which records the live performances of some of the best exponents of current rock, finally has a dvd edition.
Halfway between the unplugeed and the TV shows, From The Basement is an English series that summoned various musicians and groups to perform its best-known songs. The chosen location was a studio in Maida Vale, London, where artists such as PJ Harvey, Beck, Radiohead, The White Stripes or Sonic Youth, among others, they displayed their entire musical repertoire, closely followed by a dozen cameras, strategically located within the room.
With an almost radiophonic frame, musical sets are precise thermometers to measure the quality of live bands. Without presenters in between, the only protagonists of From The Basement are the musicians, owners of a total freedom that is evidenced in the comfort with which they develop (Radiohead, for example, decided to play everything InRainbows).
