Despite censorship, the Chinese film industry is continually growing. As reported by the General Administration of Chinese Film, Radio and Television, in 2007 it obtained a historical record of 402 films produced, assuming for the fifth consecutive year, a new increase in the production level of cinema.
In addition, total theatrical revenues, whether from Chinese or foreign films, increased in 2007 by 26 percent, with a figure of about 460 million dollars raised (a whopping amount of about 309 million euros). Of these revenues, some 167 million euros or 248 million dollars corresponded to Chinese films, a figure that is achieved due to a restriction that they have in place, which only allows the projection of about twenty foreign films.
As we see in the Chinese film industry they are not far behind.
