The 45th edition of the Sitges Festival is inspired by the end of the world

The next edition of the Sitges Festival will have as main theme the end of the world that the Mayans predicted precisely for this year.

The organization of the contest has seen fit in this premonitory year to focus its programming on catastrophic and apocalyptic films.Another of the topics that we wanted to take into account in this 2012 edition is new technologies. The reason is that today everyone carries a camera and can record a situation at any moment.

These two themes on which this edition is inspired are evident in the poster presented by the Sitges Festival organization.

The theme of the end of the world was already present in the last edition in the Panorama Section with tapes such as "Melancholy" by Lars Von Trier or "4:44 Last Day on Earth" by Abel Ferrara.

Regarding new technologies, it must be said that in the Noves Visions Section of the Festival there have been very curious films such as "Night Fishing" by Park Chan-wook, which won in 2011 and was the best short film in the Berlinale of that same year.

This year they are also fulfilled twenty years of "Reservoir Dogs" and his time at the event, so the Sitges Festival has decided to organize a retrospective on its director Quentin Tarantino.

r Reservoir Dogs

Quentin Tarantino won the awards for best director and best screenplay at the 25th Sitges Film Festival with "Reservoir Dogs".
