Since its constitution towards the end of the 60's, The Antigua Jazz Band (AJB) has been one of the most traditional jazz orchestras in Argentina. Spokesperson for the diffusion of black jazz throughout South America, makes its debut in 1968 appearing in an old cinema in the city of Buenos Aires.
Today, with more than 10 albums to his credit (several of them double), The Antigua Jazz Band turns 40 and celebrates it with the publication of 40 Years a la Antigua, a live album that demonstrates its validity. The show that they gave at the Maipo Theater in the middle of last year allows us to enjoy the best 20 songs of AJB, at the same time that it makes it possible to elucidate the great moment they are going through.
The brilliant illustrator and cartoonist Hermenegildo Sábat made his contribution to the album by drawing the cover (the big picture you see above). Also the Antigua Jazz Band invited a notable selection of artists to participate in the brand new album; there are the collaborations by Jorge Navarro, Sandra Mihanovich, Opus Cuatro, Deborah Dixon and Daniel Rabinovich (member of Les Luthiers).
