One of the most interesting news that this edition of the Festival de Cine de Cannes is the announcement, in the mouth of its own director, of the continuation of the movie that Terry Gilliam was filming about Don Quixote, sadly suspended several years ago.
The film was titled The man who killed Don Quixote, and in the cast were the French actor Jean Rochefort, like the knight errant; and Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis they completed the main roles. Various setbacks, including the destruction of sets and a surprise Rochefort operation, forced Gilliam to abandon filming.
However, the talented director was so attracted to the story of Don Quixote that never gave up the idea. Now, gilliam will relaunch the filming and for that he made sure to have Johnny Depp as the gentleman's faithful companion, Sancho Panza.
On the role of Depp, it already transpired that He will play a business executive who travels back in time to medieval times, to the Spanish region of La Mancha, where he meets the character created by Cervantes.
Depp and Gilliam will meet again on a film set after the lysergic Panic and Madness in Las Vegas and the fantastic The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, posthumous film by Heath Ledger.
