Last week The Hollywood Reporter announced that it is working on a new spin-off of Spider-Man centered on the character of Venom. According to several sources, the film would be produced by the representatives of the rights of Spider-Man. Sony has stated that the approach of the film would have a completely different air than usual, also, it would not have any kind of relationship with the feature film it is producing with Marvel, starring Tom Holland.
As explained, the spin-off of Venom, the quintessential alien villain of the Spider-Man saga created in 1988 by David Michelinie with truly daunting powers and a sadistic and incompassionate personality, it would not have to be played by Topher Grace, actor who already embodied him in the third part of the trilogy starring Tobbey Maguire. It is completely unknown if the actor will return to incarnate this monster with sharp teeth that although in his career as a villain he has wiped out thousands of people, he has become an antihero and sometimes even a good person.
Apparently, Sony has decided to hire, taking into account the potential of the character, to Dante Harper as screenwriter, a professional who has participated in projects such as 'World War Z', 'Forever War' or 'Black Hole', although in his career he has not yet appeared as a screenwriter for any film project.
While many comic book fans and we would prefer that the villain is inserted within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), and that it be related to the new Spider-Man starring Tom Holland, who will appear recently in the long-awaited 'Captain America: Civil War'. However, the world of cinematographic rights tends to complicate everything and solve this type of issues that a priori seem so simple ends up being a whole sea of papers that do not lead anywhere beyond the possible agreements that can be agreed .
