Warner Bros, one of the majors, that is to say Hollywood studio, if not the most productive, is deciding what to do when it comes to franchising. Since its banner on this subject, Harry Potter, is coming to an end, Warner has already put all its staff to work in the search for a new successful franchise to cover expenses for the next few years.
And it seems that he has already found it. This is the youth novel Skullduggery Pleasant, written by Derek Landry, a teenage horror mystery black comedy about a spooky skeleton detective and a 12-year-old girl named Stephanie.
Warner wants to acquire the rights to the novel to adapt it to the cinema in the coming years. The funny thing is that thinking about a future franchise, this novel has only published the first volume, although there are expectations of publishing eight more.
