Sitges 2014: Criticism of "It Follows" by David Robert Mitchell

It Follows

david robert mitchell has shown with his new film "It Follows" that things are much simpler than many think.

Without great fanfare and with great simplicity, the director has achieved a truly terrifying film, probably one of the jewels that will be remembered in this 47th edition of the Sitges Festival.

Without forgetting that we are facing an adolescent horror film, although that does not limit the title only to young people, «It Follows»Has been a most refreshing film in an edition of the Catalan competition that has been characterized by not bringing big surprises.

Although David Robert Mitchell's film has been one of the great forgotten of a record, which on the other hand has focused more on fantasy than horror films, it arrived at the Sitges Festival as one of the highlights of the Austin Fantastic Fest.

The film focuses on a young woman who maintains a sexual relationship with a young man whom she knows very little, from that moment on someone will start chasing her relentlessly.

Little more can be said about "It Follows" so as not to reveal more than necessary to those who have not yet seen the film, only to say that their references could perfectly be tapes like "Nightmare on Elm Street«, Since the film focuses on a fear from which you cannot escape.

A metaphor for the fears of giving the jump to adulthood, where it is precisely a success that adults do not have a leading role in the film.
