Singer Pete Burns (Dead or Alive) Dies at 57

Pete Burns Dead or Alive

Pete Burns, the singer and leader of the group Dead or Alive, died last Monday (24) victim of a cardiorespiratory arrest as reported by his relatives and his manager on social networks. Burns, 57, rose to international fame in the eighties thanks to his hit 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)' (1985) and in the UK he returned to popularity after his stint on Celebrity Big Brother 4, in 2005, reaching fifth place in the final.

In its beginnings Pete Burns was recognized for his androgynous appearance and in the last decade gained a place in the press due to his multiple cosmetic surgeries, which practically deformed his features completely. The singer, with his ironic humor, went so far as to say "I am like Frankenstein" and he did not hesitate to boast of more than a hundred operations on his face.

Peter Jozzepi Burns was the son of an English soldier and a German and Jewish mother who had escaped from occupied Austria in the early 1940s. Born in 1959, Pete Burns had grown up in Liverpool (a city where he did not remember good times). His musical career began towards the end of the seventies, being catapulted into fame with Dead or Alive and with his main hit single 'You Spin Me Round'., produced by the Stock Aitken Waterman team.

The death of the singer was reported last Monday through a statement published on his Twitter account, signed by his ex-wife Lynne Corlett, her boyfriend Michael Simpson and the manager and former member of the Dead or Alive group Steve Coy, in which they transmitted their weigh: "It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that our dear Pete died suddenly yesterday of massive cardiac arrest.". The message also stated that all his family and friends have been devastated by the sad loss: Pete was our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful and talented soul, and he will be missed by all who love and value him for all that he was and for all those wonderful memories that he has left in his wake. ".
