La attractive programming of the Festival de Jerez of this year 2016 contrasts with its administrative and financial situation, and its future.
These days thousands of visitors come to Jerez to attend its well-known Festival, dedicated to flamenco dance and Spanish dance. The contest, which started last Friday, is conditioned by the uncertainty generated by your finances. The Ministry of Finance decreed its dissolution in January.
The Jerez City Council has guaranteed the Festival's programming for this year, and has committed to search for new formulas for its management. In the 2016 edition, which will run until March 5, more than forty dance courses will take place, in addition to the announced performances. In the days leading up to the Festival, different exhibitions have been inaugurated.
The promoters of the Festival affirm that it is a must, at least once in their life, and that, although flamenco dancing and singing are what transcends the most, the Jerez Festival is much more than that.
20 years of art
The Festival program is advertised as a show series who worship the twentieth birthday. In total, the city of Jerez welcomes more than forty shows, divided into five different spaces. On the main stage, Teatro Villamarta, leading figures from the dance and dance scene will meet, such as Eva Yerbabuena, Sara Baras, Carmen Cortés, Rocío Molina or the Estévez / Paños Company, as well as young artists but with an important tour, such as Marco Flores and Manuel Liñán, and other local artists of the stature of Mercedes Ruiz, María del Mar Moreno and Antonio el Pipa.
This extraordinary programming includes two gastronomic events, which come to enhance the tourist attraction of the Festival, Flamencook and Tapateando. In addition, the specific cycles XX artists, XX spaces, XX festivals, will provide extra content to the main performances on the Festival stages.
