El generational change of actors in Hollywood seems to be starting. One symptom of this is the recent replacement of Tom Cruise by rising Sam Worthington in the lead role of the production The Tourist.

Trying to pick up a string of box office flops, Cruise had joined the filming of the remake of the French film Anthony Zimmer, but the THR site reports that the executives backtracked and decided to hire Worthington. instead of the once blockbuster actor.

Thus, Worthington will share the set with Charlize Theron, in a film directed by Bhara Nalluri. The original version was released in 2005 in France and did not have a great international projection outside of Europe. Regarding the differences, the roles were reversed: Theron will play an Interpol Agent, and Worthington, the tourist who will help her capture a major criminal.

The idea of the producers is start filming in January next year. Julian Fellowes and Jeffrey Nachmanoff wrote the script for co-production between the Canal Plus and Spyglass Entertainment.
