"Noah" is the most ambitious project of the filmmaker, to embark on it he has left the project of the remake of "Wolverine".
Russell Crowe has been chosen to play Noah, but this was not the first option. Aronofsky thought of another actor with Oscar, Christian Bale. But the actor, although interested in the project, had to give a refusal to be committed to Terrence Malick for his next two projects, "Lawless" and "Knight Of Cups."
Crowe could see his career relaunched with Aronofsky, as Mickey Rourke did with "The Wrestler."
