Remembering ... Fossil

Fossil

It was the nineties, and strongly established currents such as the “grunge" or the "new metal"They invaded radio stations, television programs and record stores. Fossil came with a proposal that some -very few- experts in the field considered a ray of light among so much darkness, owner of a more than interesting lyrical and musical versatility, capable of mixing strength and adolescent debauchery in certain songs with deep moments of despair and inner search in others.

This band settled in New York was formed by Bob O'Gureck (voice and guitars) Y Randy staley (guitars, backing vocals) -they both knew each other since they were students- who would later meet with Neil moscaritolo (commanding the bass) Y Tom cottone (in charge of the battery, incorporated a little later) to bring this consistent experience to life.
Having already a model under their arms they manage to present themselves in the legendary New York bar CBGB's and after only two gigs in that place, they were presented with an important sponsor and with him, the opportunity to enter a large label that would produce their first LP (Sire / Warner Bros).

The character who sponsored them was nothing less than Hilly kristal, the owner of the CBGB's, a bar that had hosted and promoted shows by punk and new wave bands of the caliber of Ramones, Patti Smith o Television (to name a few), betting on his talent when almost no one did.
Too eccentric to be promoted properly on FM but too catchy and loud to go unnoticed, Fossil he managed to sneak into the musical world although his step was too fleeting and surely if it weren't for “moon”, This would hardly be remembered.
