Concrete Blonde

North American alternative rock trio that takes shape around the year 1986, and that owes its peculiar name to the leader of REM, michael stipe, who understood that it perfectly described the marked contrast of the music they made: on the one hand, pretty intense rock and on the other, intimate and sensitive lyrical compositions.

johnette napolitano, bass and first voice of this great band, would describe their beginning in the musical world like this:

Meanwhile, I was stuck in my bathroom recording some demos on two cassette players during the night and working until exhaustion during the day. One of these demos went to the Electra record label but they wanted us to cover songs from other groups and the truth was, I didn't want to be known for doing covers. So on our own we started recording our first album and practically when it was finished, the IRS leader called us saying that he was interested in us, that we reminded him a lot of the trio The Police ..."
