Remembering ... Cetu Javu

Cetu Javu

Considered by many a clone band of the Depeche Mode, given its similar synth formula, Cetu Javu It has left a remarkable mark of its passage through the music scene, the same one that contrasts with the little data that we have about them.
It is known that they were formed there by 1984 en Hanover, Germany, and that they were made up of torsten engelke (in the Keyboards), Stefen engelke (to the with), Chris demere (commanding the synthesizers) Y Javier Revilla-Diez (in charge of the voice –Which, given its Spanish origin, makes some songs in English almost impossible to understand-).

Already in the year 1985, they obtained the third place in a contest of new bands in their native land; the following year they would open the presentation of the consecrated Erasure. In 1987 they would finally release their first single, "help me now!"(Give Me Records, 1987), managing to obtain a certain recognition on the one hand and on the other an inevitable comparison with the Depeche Mode, as happened in those days to the also German band Camouflage. Then they would burst onto the radio with the extremely catchy single “circumstances"(ZYX Records, 1988) and of course, the “have in mind”, Which was very reminiscent of rhythms heard at the beginning of the decade. Both titles were put up to exhaustion on the discs that copulated with this musical style, quickly popularizing the group.

But it is the unexpected hit "where to”, Which almost immediately positioned itself in the first places of the preference lists, which causes the band to contemplate tours around Spanish-speaking countries or colonies, and gives rise to the group being a little more ambitious when it comes to compose songs in this language: later others such as “because?"(Black and White, 1991), "give me your hand"(Black and White, 1992) and "a woman"(Black and White, 1993).

Cetu Javu gets to release two full-length albums on the market, "Southern lands"And"Where is where"(Black and White, 1992), although later one of versions came out that as far as I know is not official.
The band itself would abruptly disappear from the music scene in mid- 1994.
