Ramones 40th Anniversary, a luxury edition to celebrate and remember

Ramones 40th Anniversary

On September 9, 'Ramones 40th Anniversary Edition' was released, the special and limited edition of a boxset that celebrates 40 years since the mythical American punk quartet released their first album: 'Ramones' (1976).

This luxurious anniversary reissue has been released by Rhino Records with the special collaboration of Craig Leon (original producer of the album) in a limited edition of 19.760 units for the whole world. The collector's boxset has three CD's, 1 LP on vinyl and a hardcover book with historical photos, a complete collection material that also includes eight unreleased demos as a first.

'Ramones 40th Anniversary Edition' contains a first CD with the original album, which has been completely remastered in stereo and mono. The second CD includes new mixes, discards and original demos, some of which are unreleased, such as 'Chain saw', 'Loudmouth', 'Now I wanna sniff some glue' or 'You're gonna kill that girl'. The third CD contains two concerts recorded at the legendary The Roxy in West Hollywood (California, USA) on August 12, 1976, one of which is published for the first time in this special collection. Completing the box is 1 vinyl LP containing a new mono mix from the original album. The cover art has been preserved with the original album photograph recorded by photographer Roberta Bayley, and in which they appear posing from left to right Johnny, Tommy, Joey and Dee Dee Ramone leaning against that brick wall.

In a recent report, Craig Leon recalled the recording process of the historic album: «The first mixes of the album were practically in mono, we had the idea to record in Abbey Road and do both mono and stereo versions, something very unusual at that time. I am delighted that now, 40 years later, we have put the original idea into practice ».
