'Oceania': Smashing Pumpkins return to traditional format

Return the Smashing Pumpkins: the band will release their new name work 'oceania'on June 19. It is an 'album within an album', as Billy Corgan described it, as it would be part of the 'Teagarden by Kaleidyscope' conceptual project, made up of 44 songs that would gradually emerge in small volumes for free download on the Internet, something that It was not a success, far from it. Now this CD will have 13 songs.

«I realized that, in this way, we were not reaching the type of public that continues to access information through traditional channels, so I thought I had to make an album again"Corgan told Billboard magazine in September. «And for those who are interested, the title of 'Oceania' has no connection whatsoever with Orwell or 1984. It is completely related to my life"Said the leader of the group, which also includes Jeff Schroeder (guitar), Mike Byrne (drums) and Nicole Fiorentino (bass).

Remember that Corgan dissolved the group in 2000, to return seven years later with a new lineup; his last studio album was 'Zeitgeist' from 2007. Last year we saw the video for «Owata», one of the songs that were within the 'Teagarden by Kaleidyscope' project.
