Molins de Rei 2014: Review of "Suburban Gothic"

Suburban gothic

All the horror comedies they tend to work well, especially at festivals, and "Suburban Gothic" is no exception.

The new movie of Richard Bates Jr.Although it is far from his debut film "Excision", it meets some minimums. While it's not very scary, its sharp script makes it stick with subtle and not-so-subtle gags.

«Suburban gothic»Tells the story of Raymond, who can see things that others cannot imagine, causing him to have to deal with ghosts and other unpleasant beings from beyond when he returns to his parents' house after failing to find a job.

El Molins de Rei Horror Festival He brings us back to Richard Bates Jr. after succeeding with his debut feature "Excision" two years earlier. This year it does not seem that it will achieve the same success, but it certainly comes out with a somewhat peculiar proposal.

The film's tone refers us to tapes like "Grab me those ghosts" ("The Frighteners") by Peter Jackson or the more recent "The Voices" by Marjane Satrapi.

Good interpretation of Matthew Gray Gubler, who we are used to seeing in a totally different role in the long-running television series "Criminal Minds"

Rating: 6 / 10
