The American actor who rose to fame for films like Batman, or The Tenant, will take his first steps behind the scenes directing the indie drama The Merry Gentleman, who will also star.
With 57 years, The actor explained his decision to direct claiming that with the previous offers they had proposed, he did not feel comfortable nor did he think he was ready to take command of a film, as well as labor responsibility: “It is an enormous amount of work. But I like it and I enjoy it »Keaton commented.
"The Merry Gentleman" premieres these days in theaters of the United States, and already cHe has a prize awarded during the Sundance festival, in January of last year.
"I would like to repeat the experience and it is likely that next time I will have more funding and time" the actor pointed out. "I just wanted it to be unassuming, about real people in this unusual chapter of their lives."
The film was shot in less than a month, with minimal time to work in pre-production, Keaton explained. Despite having a short documentary and a short film to his credit, This is Michael Keaton's first feature film.
