Mad Cool festival exceeds 100.000 attendees

100.000 Attendees

After more than 70 concerts held and more than 102.000 attendees throughout the three days that the Mad Cool festival lasted, it has become clear that Madrid needed an important macro-festival, in the style of Primavera Sound or Sónar.

Another important aspect that has become clear is that this type of festival needs greater involvement of administrations and the private sector of the city so that the organization is the most appropriate in a macro-event of such magnitude.

It must be said that,Although there were some major failures, there was also the ability to react and fix things. And this is important. The first opening day on Thursday took place with major flaws, but on Saturday the impression was totally different, with performances by The Who, Neil Young, The Prodigy and other very relevant groups.

The appointment took place in uan area close to 176.000 square meters from the Caja Mágica site, the multipurpose stadium in the San Fermín neighborhood, on the banks of the Manzanares River.

What happened the first day? A real chaos. Bad signage, insufficient waiters at the bars, payment wristbands that did not work, lack of security, little information, queues to do almost anything, the Design Market area empty ... and much more.

All the Consequences of this bad organization were endless lines, and some other tension. However, on the following day, Friday, everything seems to have gradually calmed down. Of the 3.206 incidents with the bracelets that were counted on Thursday, they went to 168 on Friday, and 342 on Saturday. The waiters and security were moving according to the concerts and the public in each stage; the signage was raised in height and improved as much as possible.

A second edition is already underway.
