Finally, and after the tragedy where 19 people died on Saturday at the festival Love Parade Duisburg, the organizers announced the final closure of the show.
Rainer schaller is the organizer of the electronic music festival and commented that «The Love Parade was always a peaceful and joyous party that will now be forever overshadowed by tragic events… Out of respect for the victims, families and friends, we will cancel the event«.
It is said that the organization failed in the security measures, since the almost million and a half people they exceeded the capacity of the enclosure. Most of the victims were Germans, but there were also several foreigners, including two Spanish, a Bosnian, a Dutch, an Australian, an Italian and a Chinese, almost all students.
They all died when other young people who pushed to enter the festival, in an old railway installation, ended up causing a stampede. At the moment, the main questions focus on the security conditions of the tunnel, 200 meters long and 30 wide, which seemed to be the only access to the land.
