The redhead is an English electropop group composed of singer Eleanor Jackson, known as Elly Jackson, who also plays synthesizer, and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. Elly Jackson describes their respective roles as "a half and a half situation ... not a singer / producer team."

Elly named the group after finding in a trash can a book of baby names that included the name La Roux, "the redhead" in French (the correct form is Le Roux). His music is heavily influenced by pop music from the 1980s, such as Eurythmics, New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Human League, Yazoo and Prince.
