Last.fm and the launch of its royalty program

Last.fm

The aforementioned musical community has just launched a new program aimed at groups that have not yet signed with any label: ARP (Artist Royalty Program), through which it is offered to provide the same royalty rights about their work, just as other established bands have.

The site, which currently has more than 3.5 million songs available, offers them to give the corresponding economic benefits for listening to their songs, the same ones that accumulate each time they are played.
Last.fm He launched the program yesterday, but this initiative has been registering participants since January. Currently, the page already includes almost Half a million of songs of this nature.

Christian ward, Representative of last fm, I commented: "Most established artists have a company behind them working for their benefit, but for those who do not yet belong to one, the process of accumulating royalties is very cumbersome and complicated. If you add to this the fact that it is not at all easy to know how your work is being used on the internet, it is basically impossible.
In simple terms, every artist or group that joins this program will receive a percentage of our advertising revenue. Unfortunately I cannot be specific about quantities yet, but I can say that our offer is quite competitive
".
