Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck to include unpublished book

A few weeks ago, the US network HBO announced that, during 2015, the first authorized documentary about the biography of Kurt Cobain, a production that will bear the name of Montage of Heck and that will reveal previously unreleased songs by Nirvana, as well as never-before-seen recordings of different performances by the legendary band. Coinciding with the release of the documentary, a book will be released with a compilation of drawings, photographs and other biographical treasures from the personal archive of the musician who disappeared in 1994.

The biographical book also shows different transcripts of the interviews conducted by director Brett Morgen for the documentary, along with reflections by the filmmaker on the process of making it. It was recently announced that it will be premiered in late January at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival and will subsequently be seen on television on May 4 on HBO. Also, the book Montage of Heck It will be available in stores starting April 7.

For the making of this film, Morgen has obtained authorization from Cobain's relatives to access his personal files, counting on Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean, in the executive producer of the project. Morgen stated about his experience: “Once I was able to discover his personal archive, I found 200 hours of unpublished music, a lot of artistic works (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of home video recordings and 4 thousand pages of writings. All this together has allowed to draw an intimate and detailed portrait of Cobain ».
