«KARATE»: First single of the new BABYMETAL [VIDEO]

BABYMETAL KARATE

The Japanese BABYMETAL are back with a new single and video clip, 'KARATE', a song that presents their second album, 'Metal Resistance', a work that will be released on April 1, Zorro Day. It is always a pleasure to see how one of these musical experiments - let's call everything by its name - manages to grow beyond the first album, and even more so when the result of that experiment ended up being the great headwind that was to discover BABYMETAL.

If what you were expecting from 'KARATE' was something like 'Gimme chocolate 2 !!' you can now erase that idea from your head. There are no electronic sequences soaked in strawberry jam this time around, so the guitars sound really dark. Su-metal's voice sounds, as always, impressive, with melodies just as catchy as the first album. For example: Do you remember the first time you heard 'Road to Resistance'? It sounded great, delivering whiplash to the max, but no jelly beans. What you are going to hear on 'KARATE' is something similar, only with darker guitars.

From the tracklist of 'Metal Resistance' only one more song is known, 'No Rain, No Rainbow', which had already been heard during the tour and which is also easy to find on YouTube along with a lot of other unknown songs that, apparently they are not included on the disc (at least not with those titles).

It's obviously too early to make any kind of judgment on 'Metal Resistance', though 'KARATE' does manage to get anyone hoping to come across something akin to the usual BABYMETAL singles. In a week and a half we will get rid of doubts. And if you are interested in knowing how this new album will be live, you still have time to go to Wembley for the presentation on April 2.
