One of the great sensations of this year in the section Uncertain regard of the Cannes Festival has been «Jauja» by Lysandro alonso.
Although it has not finally won the award for the best film in the parallel section, the film has won the Fipresci Award in the French competition and Lisandro Alonso has just established himself as one of the most promising directors on the South American scene.
Here we have an extract from this Argentina-USA-Mexico-Holland co-production that has garnered very good reviews in the Cannes film festival.
Starring the Oscar nominee Viggo Mortensen to whom this year we will see in the debut in the direction of Hossein Amini "Two Faces of January" and by the Danish Ghita nørby, a veteran actress we saw on Lars Von Trier's television series "The Riget," the film talks about the search for that mythological land of abundance and happiness called Jauja. A legend exaggerated by the people and of which it was only known with certainty that everyone who set out on the road to this land had ended up lost.
«Jauja»Tells the story of a Danish man and his young daughter who travel through the desert beyond the confines of civilization to find this earthly paradise.
