The Messengers is a horror movie (if one of this type can still be considered as such) like any other we have seen in the last five years, which for this reason is not surprising in any way.
A story of a haunted house, a violent murder, a rebellious teenager, a child who sees dead people, ghosts walking on the walls, crows, an ax… at times I thought I was watching a “Scary movie”.
The truth is not a bad movie but it is very repetitive. The Solomon family, after suffering an economic crisis, moves from Chicago to a farm in North Dakota to start planting sunflowers on the farm and that is when Jess (Kristen Stewart), the eldest daughter of the family and her brother Ben, 3 years old, they begin to see apparitions in the house and to notice the presence of something other than themselves.
In "The Messngers", from the first moment we already know everything that is going to happen. The fear is moderate not to mention low. The only really good thing is the beautiful Kristen. Hence some performances that seem overloaded.
Another important achievement is that of Evan and Theodore Turner, who plays little Ben, who must be the next Tom Hanks in Hollywood (…) when he grows up, because apparently he shot the best performance of the movie. At times I thought it was a robot.
Accompanying the Turners and Stewart are Dylan McDermott, Penelope Ann Miller and John Corbett. The direction is in charge of Oxide Pang and Danny Pang.
My recomendation: If you have not seen the horror movies of the last five years, go see it, otherwise I am not responsible for if you fall asleep.
