Interview with Guachass in Clarín newspaper

guachasss

Last weekend I featured Guachass, a promising Uruguayan band made up of a majority of girls who make the most rabid garage rock.

In this opportunity I share an interview that they carried out with their singer Camila Gonzalez Jettar that was published in the Argentine newspaper Clarín. In it, he tells a bit about the beginnings of the group, his fruitful bond with The Natas (and especially with his guitarist Sergio Chotsourian) and the scene under Montevideo.

As is often the case with the underground, Camila also spoke about how difficult it is to succeed in her country and that in Argentina she found a circuit in which they could perfectly fit.

Then I leave part of the interview. to read lfull note, click here.

In Uruguay you are a giant band or you are nothing ». Camila González Jettar, vocalist of Wow, He says that the alternative for Uruguayan gangs is to make a leap to the masses or to be trapped in an unviable underworld. «In Buenos Aires you have bands that are recontra under and carry 1.000 people. You always have to make contact with Buenos Aires because you can find a band with the style of yours that can give you something more. The big bands in Uruguay are in theirs ». That is why Guachass gradually becomes a regular on this side of the river, hand in hand with The Natas.

Sergio Chotsourian, guitarist and singer of the psychedelic heavy trio, received the call from Camila. «I told him that Los Natas were suitable for us, that it was incredible what they did and that it would be good to do something together. As we talked, the madman listened to us on MySpace and said 'it's very salty; see you tomorrow'". chotsourianFirst, he invited the band to share Buenos Aires stages — they had already played together with Satan Dealers- but ended up becoming the music producer of the Guachass debut lp, where he also collaborated on piano and additional guitars.
