Interview by the Argentine newspaper Clarín, on the occasion of his latest film, the romantic comedy He just doesn't want you The American actress spoke at length about her character, the experience of filming with great figures such as Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Connelly and his appreciation for love. And there was time to talk about her debut as a film director.

The film was born out of a best seller written by the screenwriters of Sex and the City, Greg Behrendt and Liz Tucillo, that later the producer Nancy juvoven turned it into a script. Once finished, Drew Barrymore he read it and did not hesitate to take it to the movies.

The movie is Directed by Ken Kwapis, written by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein and produced by Barrymore herself for Warner Bros. Studios.

Part of the interview, below:

Was it difficult to gather a cast of celebrities and get them to agree to be listed alphabetically?
Not at all. Everyone immediately fell for the idea, and the reason is very simple, any of them can relate to the stories that are told in the movie. I think we all laughed reading the script and the same is going to happen to the public. If we are not them we have a friend who looks like him. Who has not been in the situation of obsessing over the wrong person? The one who has never done it to throw the first stone.
Why didn't you accept the role of Gigi, which your partner assures you is a perfect fit?
I admit that I have made many mistakes in my youth, but now I feel that I am older. I am in my thirties, single, calm, going through another stage of my life, that is why I identify more with a person like Mary than with Gigi's unconscious search for happiness. I like honest relationships, I don't believe fairy tales anymore, if they have to tell me that they don't love me I prefer that they do it to my face, looking into my eyes, I know I can survive that.
Marriage is a subject that borders on several characters in the plot of "He just doesn't love you." How do you get along with that institution?
I can't say I haven't had a drink from that cup, albeit briefly (laughs), but I don't know if I'm going to try again in the future. But you know, you never have to say never.
Are you spending hours on the Internet as your character? Would you look for a virtual partner?
I am from the old school. I need to look the man in the eye to know if he feels something for me, the truth is there, I could not establish a relationship through some technological element as happens to my character in the film. Before you had to deal with answering machines, now I see that everyone is a prisoner of cell phones, consulting text messages at important meetings. Is very crazy.
What is the main quality that a man has to have for you to be interested?
For me it is basic, you have to have a sense of humor. I'm not looking for a boy out of a poster. I am interested in knowing if you like adventure, if you are creative.
Are you finding it difficult to direct your own movie?
Yes, but I am fascinated. I started in this profession when I was very young. Everyone remembers me for my role in the Steven Spielberg movie ET. He was seven years old there, but he had been working in film for a long time. The first thing was to start producing until I was encouraged to take all the reins. It's a story about a Texas girl (Ellen Page) who wants to leave beauty pageants behind and join a team of professional skaters. But right now I am even more excited about the film that will be released in April on HBO about the life of a very peculiar cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy, a girl from high society.
You always seem to be in a good mood. What is your recipe?
I try to have a positive philosophy towards life. I believe that we are energy fields and that we can choose whether that energy is positive or negative. I know it sounds hippie and it's because I'm a bit of a hippie. But being like that makes me happy and I hope that is transmitted to the people around me. I like having made this movie that is going to generate laughter. I think that good vibes come back to you, like a boomerang.
