Iggy Pop: special guest in concert against addiction

People who have not been strangers to drug and alcohol abuse, such as the punk rock icon Iggy Pop or the guitarist of the Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood, will be present at a benefit concert (to take place in LA) what will raise funds to help people linked to music who struggle daily against their own addictions.

Iggy, who complies 62 years this month and was seen in Paris recently promoting his album Preliminary, Will be special guest of the evening to take place in the MusicCares MAP Fund the next May 8.
Wood, 61 years old, will play before 2300 people as well as Flea y Chad Smith (members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein, The Mars Volta and the multi-instrumentalist Ivan Neville.

Everyone here has a story to tell: for example, Iggy succumbed to heroin and other drugs in the '70 and ended up in a mental institution in Los Angeles; Wood for his part, he still has a battle against his addiction to alcoholism.

Also Anthony Kiedis, singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, will receive the Stevie Ray Vaughan award for his many contributions to aid foundations.
By the way, alcohol consumption will not be allowed at the event.
