Films selected for the Malaga Festival

XV Malaga Festival

The Malaga International Spanish Film Festival, which will take place from April 21 to 28, 2012, has announced the tapes that will participate in the official section to the contest of its XV edition.

They have been selected for the official section:

  • "The Pelayos" by Eduard Cortés
  • "Memories of my sad whores" by Danish Henning Carlsen
  • "The sex of angels" by Xavier Villaverde
  • "A cold door" by Xavi Puebla
  • "Wilaya" by Pedro Pérez Rosado
  • "Ali" by Francisco R. Baños
  • "Carmina o revienta" debut film by actor Paco León
  • "Miel de oranjas" by Imanol Uribe.
  • "Els nens salvatges" by Patricia Ferreira
  • "O Apóstolo" by Fernando Cortizo
  • "Luck in your hands" by Argentine Daniel Burman
  • “Looking for Eimish” by Ana Rodríguez
  • “Kanimambo” by Abdelatif Hwidar, Adán Aliaga and Carla Subirana.

The Pelayos

"The Pelayos" is one of the most anticipated Spanish films of the year. The film tells the true story of the Pelayo family, a family that, based on studies and statistics, and without cheating, dedicated themselves to fleecing the largest casinos in Spain.

Another of the most anticipated films is "Carmina o busienta", debut in thedirection of Paco León. Actor famous for his role on the television series "Aida" or previously in "Homozapping." León intends to surprise the Malaga jury with a mockumentary about his mother's life.

Imanol Uribe may be the one who brings the highlight to the contest with "Miel de Naranjas", a drama set in Andalusia in the 50s.

Animation will not be lacking in the official section either. "O Apóstolo" by Fernando Cortizo, horror and intrigue film, shuns the, so fashionable, 3D, and uses the stop motion to give life to plasticine characters.

The Festival premieres this year a new section dedicated to animation, in it you can see this year:

  • "Gartxot" by Asisko Urmeneta and Juanjo Elordi
  • "Thirty years of darkness" by Manuel H. Martín
  • "The wish fish" by Gorka Vázquez and Iván Oneka
  • "Puppies and Marco Polo's Code" by Sergio Manfio
  • "Holy Night!" by Juan Galiñanes
  • "Carthago Nova" by Primitivo Pérez and José María Molina
