Film master Chris Marker passes away

Chris Marker

French director Chris Marker has died at the age of 91 after almost 60 years dedicated to the seventh art.

Author of almost thirty documentaries Marker has been one of the most important filmmakers, especially at the time of the wave of new cinemas back in the 60s. Although of French origin, his cinema was not associated with the Nouvelle Vague, despite coinciding in time and space and on many occasions in themes, but his style was very different from the authors who were framed in it.

Chris Marker was known as the most famous director among unknown directors and one of his most popular works was "La Jeteé", a 1962 short film that in 1995 inspired Terry Gilliam's film "12 monkeys."

I jetted it

This documentary filmmaker made his film debut in the 50s, with "Olympia 52" specifically in 1952 and his cinema has lasted almost to the end of his days, shooting up to seven different decades. His last film dates from 201o, "Seeds of December."

A filmmaker who took another approach to documentary and therefore to the seventh art, which is now leaving us. The cinema is left without another of the great masters who have contributed such great works to this art. Rest in peace Chris Marker.
